Cassie Williams KPA CTP Trainer I have loved animals since I was a child. I was fortunate that my parents let me bring home almost whatever I wanted...a puppy from a neighbor’s litter, fish, mice, birds, tadpoles. I had quite a menagerie. All throughout high school and during my breaks from college I worked at a local aquarium and pet supply store. Helping people with their animals has always been a love of mine. I have continued to have different types of fur kids as an adult including, dogs, cats, bunnies, rats and birds. My passion for positive reinforcement dog training developed over recent years as I worked with trainers from A Sound Beginning to help my dog reactive wheaten terrier, Finnegan. I also went through the program with my foster-fail Cairn Terrier, Daphne. I think every dog would benefit from participating in the program. I have Masters Degrees in both Social Work and Education. As I prepare to finish a 30 year career in special education, I have pursued and earned the dog training certification of Karen Pryor Academy-Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP). Daphne, at age 5, was my partner in this endeavor after just one year out of the puppy mill. It was an emotional accomplishment for us both. I look forward to a retirement that takes me back to my days of helping people with their animal companions as I work with A Sound Beginning. I am proud to be associated with a program I believe in so much. I plan to continue my education in dog training through seminars and reading, which is a love of mine. I feel it is so important to be a lifelong learner.
