Erica Kendzora KPA-CTP Trainer My whole life I have been surrounded by animals. I grew up with dogs, parrots, turtles, a ferret, even ducks. I went to the University of Illinois, majored in Animal Science and through that program I found an internship at DuPage County Animal Care and Control. That is when everything fell into place and I realized I wanted to work with and help shelter animals. I got involved in training because I wanted to enrich the lives of the shelter animals while they were in my care. I began to realize all these dogs coming into the shelter really started to come out of their shells with positive reinforcement training. Using the clicker they become excited for training and it also provided the mental stimulation they lacked. The book "Adopting a Dog? Start off right with ... A Sound Beginning" and the class - Path To Success - are exactly the tools new owners need when adopting a dog. Learning about canine communication and body language is so important in helping in the adjustment to the new home and making it stress-free. Support after adoption is essential to help keep that dog forever home. I am excited and honored to be a part of this program!
