Making Sense Out of Rescue
Train your Training Team and Foster Homes
Anyone working with dogs should be able to recognize signs of stress and know what to do in order to prevent a dog from having to react due to fear. This is important not only for the safety of the people that work with them, but just as importantly for the dog’s future well being.
SEMINAR FEE: $60.00 (includes light refreshments)

- Dr. Fiia Jokela, Veterinary Behavior Consultant
- Julie Dorsey-Oskerka, founder of the A Sound Beginning Program

AGENDA:
Keynote Speaker - Dr. Fiia Jokela
Behavioral Signs of Stress and Anxiety
When bringing in dogs from hoarding situations, puppy mills, shelters, etc., it is important to learn how to observe “signs” that could signal a possible problem. Learning a more integrated approach to understanding canine behavior better and differentiating normal from abnormal behavior is what will make the difference in successful placements.
Topics include:
- WHAT IS FEAR?
- WHAT IS AGGRESSION?
- WHAT IS POSSESSION AGGRESSION?
- How to recognize and assess whether a dog will benefit from training OR whether a behavioral veterinarian and medication may be needed.
