Positive Solutions for the Cautious Canine
This class is for dogs that need understanding and help to lessen their fears — perhaps your dog is afraid of the ceiling fan, or certain sounds, or would rather hide under the table when guests come to visit.
And what about fireworks and thunderstorms?
We can’t just expect them to “get over it” — Fear is an emotion. It is not a voluntary response.
What CAN we do to build confidence when something changes unexpectedly?
What SHOULD we be doing if our dogs are pacing, panting, or shaking during a thunderstorm?
Well-known behaviorist Victoria Stillwell tells us that “by activating the thinking brain, we can deactivate the emotional brain”. Thinking, doing, and problem-solving are the tools we can give our dogs to help them cope during times of stress.
You’ll learn how to recognize signs of stress before they become overwhelming, and how to manage the environment to prevent more occurrences.
Class size limited to FOUR.
Classes are up to one hour long and meet for five weeks.
NOTE: This class is not appropriate for dogs that are working through reactivity or aggression issues. For classes that focus on reactive behavior, contact us for further assistance.
